Julia Morgan, College Advisor

Our college advisor, Julia Morgan, obtained an international MBA from Thunderbird in marketing and advertising, then worked for eleven years in Paris, Nice, and Brussels for global companies including Pillsbury and Sodexo.

While raising her family in Florida, she volunteered for several years alongside the college advisors at Cypress Bay High School, one of the largest public high schools in the nation. She then took on the full-time position as College Advisor at Western High School, assisting the 800+ seniors and over 3,000 high school students.

Julia realized students desperately needed one-on-one professional assistance with the college application process, a task difficult to master with the 482 student-to-1 advisor ratio in Florida high schools. In 2015, she founded Ascent College Advising, and Ascent now provides individual assistance to students working toward acceptance to their top universities, taking into account their academic profile, goals, and financial needs.

During her last year of college advising at Western, Julia helped students obtain scholarships totalling $4.7 million, including $885,000 in Bright Futures scholarships. She continues to focus on the importance of selecting financially accessible universities.

Julia loves working one-on-one with her students and has vast experience with all types of applications – from first-generation to legacy students, with students of all academic levels, those applying to local colleges, and students applying to highly selective and Ivy League universities.

Julia is the parent of two daughters: a Duke graduate who lives and works in New York and a UCD-schooled veterinarian who lives and works in the South of France. Having gone through the application process with both her girls and hundreds of high schoolers from seven states, she truly understands the students’ and parents’ perspectives.
